Challenge yourself to ride across the other side of Central Java that you haven’t discovered before. Greet locals and breathe fresh air while exploring the landscape of Borobudur Temple, and get the chance to enjoy the breathtaking view of Mt. Merbabu and Mt. Merapi as you speed up through Ketep Pass and exhilarating roads less travelled. Race an elevation gain worth of 2400m. Started and finished at Magelang, you can also enjoy various traditional snacks and souvenirs as you stroll around the city using becak, a traditional three wheeled pedal powered cart. This is not just a ride; it is an extraordinary adventure in the foremost of cultural place in Indonesia - Get Out of Your Square!

Race Entry
  • This Challenge is open to cyclists of all nationalities
  • All Registration closes on 1 September 2020
  • Participants must be 18 years or older to participate
  • All entries are transferable to other participants
  • A team of 4 can consists of all men, all women, or a combination
  • Entries are neither non-refundable nor deferrable. No rider shall be entitled to an entry fee refund in case of DNF and Disqualification
Cycling on Course
  • Personal Support vehicles are not allowed at any time
  • All cyclists must obey traffic rules while on the cycling course unless otherwise directed by a race official
  • Twelve squared original jersey must be worn throughout the race
  • Wearing of headphones is not allowed at any time
  • Drafting is allowed
  • Teams must cross the start and finish line together to be eligible for Prizes
  • Helmets must be worn at all times.
  • Alloy wheels and Disc brake bikes are advised
  • All cyclists must carry spare tube and pump
  • Road bike only
  • All cyclists must start with 2 full bidons
  • Take only memories, Leave only tire tracks. Please do not litter

Code of Conduct
  • Participants must respect rules and be respectful to the marshalls, volunteers, spectators and the organizer throughout the event
  • Participants must be familiar with the entire course and it is their responsibility to follow the correct route
Marshalls and Mechanics
  • Marshalls carry a pump and inner tubes. (inner tubes are available for purchase)
  • Mechanics carry an extra wheelset, tires, inner tubes and a pump
  • Mechanics are only available on race day
Aid station / Check Point
  • There are 3 Aid stations/Check points with water, electrolytes and food
  • To reduce plastic use, aid station carries water in gallons (with pump)
  • Each team is required to take a complete team photo at every checkpoint. Photographer will be onsite
Results and Prizes
  • Only teams that start and finish together will qualify for podium
  • Prizes will be awarded to 3 all male teams with fastest course times
  • Prizes will be awarded to 2 fastest mixed gender team with a minimum of 10 teams
  • Prizes will be awarded to 1 fastest female only team with a minimum of 5 teams
Cut off times
  • Cut off time at check point 2 is 11.00
  • Total cut off time is 8 hours from when the last team starts
  • Race starts at 05:45. 2 teams are released every 30 seconds
  • Cyclists taking longer than any of the cut off times stated without being removed off the course, will not be entitled to a finisher medal and t-shirt
  • Any kind for support from the organizer will no longer be available after cut off time. There will be no support from organizer should cyclists decide to continue the course beyond total cut off time
Penalties and Disqualification
  • Grossly unsportsmanlike behavior
  • Disrespectful attitude to marshalls, volunteers, spectators, and organizers
  • Refusal to adhere to rules
Acceptance of Risk
  • All those who ride and compete under these rules do so at their own risk. No liability shall be attached to Twelve Squared or any of its officials with respect to any loss or injury sustained or caused by anyone competing in Twelve Squared 144 Challenge Central Java
  • Each rider has to ensure that his/her health condition is sufficient for the event
